Back to the Fry, er fray
Oh well, the holiday break extended far beyond the intended week. Cold and flu conspired to keep me away from the keyboard, but time has come to get back to it.
2006 should prove to be another year of recipes and opinions. Locally grown ingredients and regional food styles continue to seem important; but it might be time to do more. It would be good to live up to the name, Instant Chef. Dictionaries define chef as the head of a kitchen. I would add, “or the steward of the pantry†and in this way wind the importance and prestige of chef back to the keepers of medieval pantries, kitchens, and cellars. In this sense; the chief of provisioning, storing and preparing food, when we leave our day jobs and enter the super-mart, we instantly transforn into Chefs. How well we do at each phase of this responsibility depends on our person. I, for example, need to spend much time on organization in the coming year..
My cold finally suppressed, computer booted and keyboard clacking, I look forward to pushing the idea of chef as seneschal With a minimum of luck and some hard work, this concept, will guide the words, sentences and articles to define direction of this site beyond just recipes. On the other hand, we will see what we see. I hope it becomes an enjoyable journey. The best of the new year to you and yours.
